2013 Gnaw Bone 50k Trail Ultra-Marathon

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you to everyone to sponsored me for the Gnaw Bone 31 mile Trail Ultra-Marathon. Thanks to your generous support we raised $3200.00! Thanks to you we will be able to help more dogs like Wally, pictured below. KARF rescued him from a puppy mill. As you can see in his before photo, he was a complete mess. He had mange, which took many months to clear up, severe skin infection from the mange and flea infestation, as well as the constant contact with urine and feces from which there was no escape in his tiny prison. He had a ruptured eye, which took two surgeries to repair and salvage his vision. It took a year to get him healthy but boy was he ever worth it! To see him now you would never know of his life before coming to KARF. He is happy, healthy and spends his days playing with friends and his basket full of toys. This is what your donations allow us to do. We sincerely thank you for your support.

We offer very special thanks our wonderful supporters, Gavin and Cindy, who made a very generous donation on behalf of CC, Niles, Angel, Ivy, Holly, Tigger, Clover, and Pansy. Thank you so much!

Gratefully,
Angie White, Director

2013 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thanks to your generous support, KARF's SecondAnnual Derby Festival Marathon Fundraiser was a huge success! We raised $12,000.00, exceeding our goal of $10,000.00 and raising twice as much as we did last year! Our fabulous volunteers, Kim and Christina, completed their first half-marathon and I completed the marathon, setting a personal record and beating my time last year by 35 minutes. I can only attribute this to all of you. The tremendous support we received this year gave me the extra ncentive (and pressure) to do my very best. I gave it everything I had.

Thanks to your help we will be able to help more senior dogs like Iris, pictured below. She is a 13 year old Schnauzer mix who came from our local shelter two years ago. KARF was called to help and so I went to the shelter and found her nearly unresponsive on the kennel floor. She was blind and nearly dead from liver failure. I always see the potential in every senior dog and I knew we could turn her life around. After several months of treatment, including removal of a cancerous tumor, Iris is not the same dog I found lying lifeless on the floor that day. She is happy, healthy, playful and enjoying her life as she deserves. She still had so much to offer and just needed someone to see the value in her life and to give her a second chance. This is what your donations allow us to do. We can never thank you enough for your support.

Special thanks to our volunteers Kim, Jeanie, Roberta and Christina for all their hard work on this fundraiser. We could not have done it without their help.

Gratefully,
Angie White, Director

2012 50K Trail Ultra-Marathon~ Hell, Michigan

Marathon2s

Dear Supporters,
I am writing to update all of you to let you know I completed my 31 mile run through Hell, MI! It was difficult but I knew I had an important job to finish. I wanted all of you to know how hard I was willing to work for your donation and how hard I am willing to work on behalf of senior dogs. I thought it fitting to hang my medal around the neck of my rescue dog, Annie, since she is one of the true "winners" of this fundraiser. As you can see in her photo, she is missing an eye. She had to have it removed last week due to painful glaucoma that could not be managed with medications. Thanks to your generous support, our group was able to provide her with the help she needed. This is your money at work. Annie came from a local shelter about 2 years ago. She is blind but has done very well until she developed glaucoma. She feels much better now and is recovering well. Thank you for allowing us to help her.

Thanks to all of you, the fundraiser was a big success and we reached our goal of $6000! Some of you do not know me and were not familiar with the work of Kentucky Animal Relief Fund. I thank you for trusting us with your donation. Every dollar raised will be used to help seniors in need. Special thanks to our volunteers, Roberta, Jeanie, and Kim for their help with this fundraiser. I couldn't have done it without them.

2012 Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon

Marathon

Dear Supporters,
I wanted to update all of you and let you know I completed the Derby Marathon last weekend. It was a challenge but when I began to struggle, I reminded myself that I was running to give senior dogs a second chance at life and love. I thought of all the old friends I have lost and all those who will come into my life needing help. Those unknown faces became the wind at my back.
Our volunteer, Jeanie, also participated and finished her first half-marathon!
Thanks to your generous support, together we raised a total of $5900.00!

Every dollar will be used to help senior dogs in need. Special thanks to our volunteers, Roberta, and Kim for their help with this fundraiser. It was a team effort and their help made all the difference.

Thank you again for supporting our work.
Gratefully,
Angie White, Director
